After an earlier career in theatre, film and television, I returned to counselling and psychotherapy in the 1990’s, discovering how writing and creative work (in the broadest terms) fit into my personal approach to psychological therapy and independent non-managerial supervision.  Amongst other places, I lived in Old Hall Community for 13 years (see diggersanddreamers.org.uk) and in Shetland for 6 before teaching at Warwick (senior teaching fellow, counselling and psychotherapy) and briefly at Edinburgh Universities, and currently live in central Edinburgh.  I am accredited both as a cognitive behavioural psychotherapist (BABCP) and a person-centred experiential counsellor (BACP), and am a senior professional member of ACTO, the Association of Counsellors and Therapists Online.  I am also trained in EMDR and in other approaches such as NLP, narrative and schema work, specialising in trauma and complex mental health, with creativity and relationality at the heart everything I offer.
