Open Space - September 2023: Remembering Ann Rippin

4 September 2023

Jane Speedy will be leading a workshop centred around the life and work of Ann Rippin, who died this summer. Jane says:

"I realise writing this  that not everybody will have come across Ann, who has been a part of this motley assemblage of writers and makers for over 20 years and has made contributions to all our books – not least by contributing the lovely handwriting on the  postcards scattered throughout our latest ‘collaborative artful inquiry’ book  (Routledge, 2021) - So, if you don’t know Ann, I’ll just refer you to her current blog, which I believe is still up on the web, so you can see how prolific and magnificent she was in everything she did, and also see what she did most recently, after leaving management studies at the University of Bristol: https://pomegranatestudio.co.uk/blog/

[At Ann's funeral} there was much colour; there were many quilts and textiles on display, and fitting tributes to her scholarship, friendship; personal colour; intelligence, kindness and style.(Much reference was made to Ethel Merman, snazzy shoes and the use of red lipstick for example!). On our behalf, I read out a piece of Ann’s beautiful writing from the ‘cozy crimes’ (her choice of title!) chapter in ‘collaborative artful inquiry’."

Come and experience a collaborative re-membering of Ann's Ann-ness, and/or encounter her contributions for the first time.
