As a palliative care doctor I researched how medical education addresses death and dying. Through narrative, my inquiry explored how GP trainees 'know’ death in ways other than as a medical failure. Education was fundamental to my work. With creative writing, I also crafted stories for doctors to exemplify and learn from their significant experiences of death and dying at work.

I retired from medicine in 2015 in order to pursue additional identities and interests. Since then, I have been volunteering in Greece for refugee NGOs, and also for a holistic education centre. I qualified in TEFL to teach refugees English, and I continue with academic marking for the NSPC.
